Stars On The Rise 2014 – Cambridge RollerBillies

Updated: March 21, 2014

We’re profiling all of the teams that will be competing in the Heartland Series 2014. We’ve asked them to highlight the skaters hoping to make an impression in the Series and tell us a bit about themselves, to introduce our new teams and welcome back our friends from 2013. Today’s stars, hoping to go one better than their second place in 2013, Cambridge RollerBillies!

How was 2013?

2013 was super amazing for the Rollerbillies. We had two lots of purring leopard cubs born into our league. It will not be long to see them all skating in a bout soon. Billie the leopard (our mascot) joined our pack. Enjoying the travels, bouts and taking part in race for life.

And, not forgetting our roaring success in the Heartland Series tournament. Taking every bout as it came, we clawed our way to being East Division Champions, continuing onto the semi & final bouts where we came second in the tournament. We learned a lot from the bouts and over the year, we became a closer league.

Jammer To Watch – Schindler’s Lisp #1928

She emerges from the pack with grace and strength. Dedication & determination is in her blood. We’re so proud of our Lisp getting through the tough try outs for Team England, and she’s a role model for all the leopards & other derby girls out there. You can’t stop her racking up the points.

Blocker To Watch – Trixxi Trunk Muffin #11

She prowls the pack and is waiting for a sneak attack. Making you forget she is on track then – BOOM There she is! Her roar is as big as her bite. Super strong & a force not to mess with.

Rookie To Watch – D’em Bones #62

She looks so elegant skating & made our jaws drop with her skills. We are excited to see her bout. She slides through the tiniest of gaps and fits in the pack purrfectly.

What are your hopes and goals for the Heartland Series in 2014?

In 2014, we are looking forward to the new and further expanding Heartland Series tournament. We love to meet & play against new leagues. We want to continue to push the limits and learn from our experiences.
We recently rebranded the Rollerbillies hoping to spread the love of roller derby. With new cubs joining regularly we hope to be a larger, warmer, furrier leopard family.

We are focused, we are strong and we will prevail.
