We’re profiling all of the teams that will be competing in the Heartland Series 2014. We’ve asked them to highlight the skaters hoping to make an impression in the Series and tell us a bit about themselves, to introduce our new teams and welcome back our friends from 2013. Today’s stars, competing in the opening bout of this year’s Series, Evolution RollerGirls!

How was 2013?

2013 saw Evolution have a few changes within the team dimensions, so we took a step back from the derby world for a while during which time, true to our name, we evolved!

Evolution is now excited to be back and participating in the Heartland Series 2014. Our aim is to stand strong together as a team and show the derby world that you don’t have to be a big league to succeed. It’s about being diverse, dynamic, courageous, working hard and training hard together, becoming a family who works on each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

During the Series, we hope to build on techniques and skills we already have, as well as gain new ones from our experiences with other teams. Heartlands is also a perfect way to meet new skaters whom we can learn from and build great new sporting friendships and relationships. as well as catching up on track time with some of our derby friends.

Jammer To Watch – Mash-Her

Don’t be fooled by Mash-Her’s relaxed appearance! She’s a fast, unpredictable jammer with a bag full of tricks, which will leave you thinking you’ve just had an experience with a Tasmanian Devil!

Blocker To Watch – Snowball

Snowball’s an established player who is a master of backwards blocking. She promises a difficult pass to any jammer. Her shark like instincts and attack will leave opposing jammers feeling like a little fish.

Rookie To Watch – Thin White Juke

Thin White Juke is one to watch as an MVP. She may be new to the team and to Derby but it’s like she was born for it. If this skater hasn’t got her arse in your face making it difficult to pass or taking you out, she’ll be the one juking and weaving all round you.
